When they hear the cue, 60 girls and boys start playing their instruments devotedly. Charpentier, Händel - later, at the closing concert of their violin-cello camp, everything needs to be perfect. The guard house in the gardens of the palace, where the music academy has its base, is a wonderful place. Gardens reminiscent of Versailles spread out in front of the building, and the magnificent Renaissance palace with its almost complete interior furnishings is close nearby. The palace gate gives directly onto the market square with its historic buildings, the Baroque town hall, and a wealth of cafés and restaurants, where all our impressions can be processed in a relaxed environment.

After only another 220 steps, the destination is reached and the reward is breath-taking. From the tower of the town hall can be seen the picturesque Tauber valley and Rothenburg’s medieval old town, in all its glory: the churches, the completely intact town walls, walkable for two kilometres, and the market square that people traverse on their way to the Plönlein, the Crime Museum or the tower walkway. Just beneath the viewing platform, a stork has taken up position on the roof of the town hall. It calmly observes the comings and goings below for a while, before stretching its wings and flying off to its nest on the Markustor …

The prince bishops palace was built from 1720 until 1744, it is the major work of South German Baroque built acording to plans by Balthasar Neumann. Since 1981 the Residence in Wuerzburg is on the list of the UNESCO World Heritage.
