Wassail Weekend, one of the most anticipated events in Woodstock, Vermont, takes place on the second weekend of December every year. The word "wassail" means "good health," and it is an old English term that represents the deep-rooted Christmas traditions of the region. This two-day-long celebration begins with the Wassail Parade, where over 50 horses dressed in colorful outfits march down Woodstock's Main Street, accompanied by a brass band and thousands of visitors. The parade ends at the Woodstock's Village Green, where the famous Wassail Bowl, filled with hot spiced cider, is shared among the crowd. The event also features leaf-peeping, live performances of traditional Christmas carols, outdoor markets, and local artisanal products, among many other attractions. Due to its overwhelming popularity, the weekend's festivities are hosted in various locations throughout the village, and tickets are required for some events.
