Featuring
Robert Randolph is a singer/songwriter and virtuoistic pedal steel guitarist who first began playing at the House of God Church in Orange, New Jersey as a youngster. Building his skills on the instrument, that was referred to within the church as Sacred Steel, Randolph would go on to be influenced by noted guitar players Stevie Ray Vaughn, Buddy Guy and Muddy Waters. After enlisting the help of a few relatives and friends, Randolph would establish the group Robert Randolph and the Family Band in 2001. Building a name for itself as a premier funk-influenced, soul act, the group would go on to build a solid reputation for itself with impressive live shows that highlighted Randolph's natural performance ability. Though primarily playing with the Family Band, Randolph occasionally plays solo or sits in to jam with other musicians, providing the talented instrumentalist an opportunity to play without the confines of group restrictions.
