Derived from the eponymous novel by William Peter Blatty, The Exorcist is perhaps one of John Pielmeier's most inimitable theatrical works. Having premiered at the Gil Gates Theater in 2012, The Exorcist has garnered a mixed bag of reviews from audiences and critics. However, nothing can take away from the fact that the play's stagecraft, complete with stunning light and sound, is sure to send shivers down the spine. Like a lot of exorcism-based stories, the play revolves around a girl possessed by a demon, but what makes this play stand out is its stunning execution on stage, and the terrifying effect it has on the spectator.
