Coheed and Cambria is a band from Nyack, New York that successfully blends together a number of varied styles including progressive and experimental rock as well as elements of heavy metal and post-hardcore. Founded in 1995, the group initially built a strong reputation for itself with its powerful live shows before releasing any full length albums. Coheed and Cambria eventually released its debut LP, The Second Stage Turbine Blade, in 2002. The album was a concept album and along with the group's successive LPs tells a science fiction story called The Amory Wars, a narrative written by lead singer/songwriter Claudio Sanchez that have been turned into a comic book series as well as a novel.
