Frazey Ford is a Canadian folk singer whose father moved to Canada in the 1960s, in order to escape the Vietnam War draft in America. She grew up on communes and as soon as she was old enough she formed a band with two other women named The Be Good Tanyas that went on to have critical acclaim from the likes of NPR. When that group folded, Ford took some time off from songwriting, but she couldn't escape it completely. She went about recording her debut solo record Obadiah in 2010 with a plan to let listeners in on the intimate moments of her family's life. On one song she had her own mother harmonize with her on the chorus, giving it further meaning beyond the scope of the lyrics. Frazey Ford often has a small acoustic band back her up on stage, but oftentimes she plays completely solo with just her soulful voice and acoustic guitar.
