Atlanta Ballet is a ballet company based in Atlanta, Georgia that is the longest continuously performing ballet in the nation. As the nation's first regional ballet, founded in 1929, the Atlanta Ballet, grew to become an incredibly successful organization that would use much of its proceeds to form a symphony in 1946, which is now known as the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. In addition to putting on some of the United States' most celebrated and original renditions of the classical ballet repertoire, the Atlanta Ballet is also considered to be one of the nation's best organizations for dance education, serving over 150,000 people in the Atlanta metro area each year.
