During his day, the French playwright Cyrano De Bergerac was one of the more formidable talents of his generation. The 17th century dramatist was an extremely loquacious individual and while he maintained an air of confidence, he was often ridiculed for his extremely large nose and became known for sparking duels whenever the subject of his nose was brought up in a negative light. In 1897, French playwright Edmond Rostand wrote a piece that sought to properly explain the man behind the nose. Cyrano De Bergerac revolves around the title character and the target of his affection, a woman named Roxane with whom he is afraid to talk to. Through cleaver games he manages to capture her attention, but matters become progressively complicated as unwelcome characters are cast into his elaborate scheme.
