Yolanda Adams is a singer and actress from Houston, Texas who is best known for her soul and gospel hits of the early 2000s. She released her debut album, Through the Storm, in 1990, with a fusion of gospel and smooth jazz elements and her now signature soulful vocals. Nearly a decade later, she signed with Elektra Records and broke into a mainstream audience with her studio LP, Mountain High... Valley Low, in 1999. Though her commercial appeal has since declined, she continues to release new material and is often referred to as one of the greatest gospel artists of the 2000s.
