Fans of the stripped-down modern folk made popular in recent years by indie artists like Iron & Wine, M. Ward and Bon Iver will most likely find the music of Australian duo Luluc right up their alley. Pared down to the basics of usually just guitar and voice, Zoe Randell and Steve Hassett take the meager means available at their disposal and weave them into charmingly rustic folk songs that drift by on the strength of their simple melodies and effectively hushed atmosphere. In 2010, the band uprooted from Melbourne and moved to Brooklyn, where it has since enjoyed a good amount of exposure thanks to tours with Lucinda Williams and Fleet Foxes, as well as songs used on the popular ABC television show Grey's Anatomy.
