Terri Lyne Carrington is a jazz drummer, composer and producer from Medford, Massachusetts who first earned attention as the house drummer for the late-night productions of The Arsenio Hall Show and VIBE. She eventually focused on recording her own material and released her first solo record Real Life Story, in 1989. She went on to play drums with various jazz legends including Dizzy Gillespie, Stan Getz, Clark Terry and Yellowjackets before following up her debut with the 2002 record Jazz Is A Free Spirit. Carrington continues to work as a solo artist and as a session drummer while also finding time to collaborate with various artists.
