Our 5th Annual Christmas community service event is a twist on the usual "Give a Kid a Christmas" toy drive events. Since we are focused in the S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, & Math) fields, we are using our creative minds to come together for "Build" a Kid a Christmas. We will be building toys for the children (ages 5-10) of Dunbar Alexandria-Olympic and Richard England Clubhouse 14 of the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Washington. We have a large number of kids (approximately 200) to build for so we are reaching out to middle/high school and college students, as well as, young professionals in or interested in S.T.E.M. areas to make this event a major success for a third straight year. In our first year we built over 80 toys, in our second year we increased our toy ouput to 105, and most recently in our 3rd and 4th years we built over 200 toys! This year we are looking to increase this output again to 300 toys. We are looking for as many arts and crafts and building donations, along with as many STEM field volunteers as we can get. We want to be creative as possible!!!!! Just think any unused bookbag or paints, could be the start of a great gift. We are out to give back to the community by providing a Merry Christmas for many young boys and girls!
