The Washington Ballet's ingenious take on "The Nutcracker" is back for another year of local holiday fun at the Warner Theatre. Septime Webre's version of the timeless ballet is set in the wintry, historic DC of old, where snowflakes swirl through the air, King George III is cast as the menacing Rat King and none other than George Washington becomes the heroic nutcracker. Set to Tchaikovsky's enchanting score and staged with magnificent sets and costumes, there are waltzing cherry blossoms, dancing sugar plums and other clever adaptations to enchant young and old. This celebrated classic comes to life with over 100 dancers, including students and trainees from The Washington School of Ballet. It has become a signature "Nutcracker" of the nation’s capital.
