Duke Tumatoe spent his teenage attending gigs at the numerous music haunts in Chicago, witnessing performances by the who's who of the industry. It was on one such occasion that a performance by the legendary Muddy Waters inspired him to make a career in blues. He was part of the rock band REO Speedwagon for a brief period, before parting ways in 1969. His subsequent collaboration with other musicians, under the name Duke Tumatoe & The Power Trio garnered praise from traditional blues fans. The group toured intensively and released 12 albums. In 1987, John Fogerty, impressed by Tumatoe's infectious energy, collaborated with the band to release what would later be known as the live album I Like My Job. Over the course of his career, Tumatoe has performed with artists like Muddy Waters, B.B. King and George Thorogood.
