The birthplace of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) Mecca has a special significance in Islam. Situated in the western part of Saudi Arabia, nestled inside the Valley of Abraham, Mecca is where the Prophet (PBUH) had the first revelation of the Holy Quran, making it one of the most sacred cities for Muslims around the world. At its heart lies the Kaaba, the holy black stone revered by every believer of the faith. Irrespective of their physical location, all worshiping Muslims offer prayers facing the Kaaba. In ancient times, Mecca was run by several of Muhammad's (PBUH) kin, who either ruled as independent emperors or as serfs to bigger entities. In contemporary times, Mecca has witnessed large-scale expansion and is home to spellbinding architectural wonders like the Makkah Royal Clock Tower Hotel, also known as Abraj Al Bait.
