With origins dating back to the 12th Century, Schoss Planitz is one of the oldest castles of Germany. Found in a dilapidated condition, the castle was reconstructed by Johann Georg II. Von Arnim in 1712. Displaying a beautiful Baroque facade, landscaped gardens were added to the building in 1868. Over the years, the castle has played the role of a town hall, a military hospital, refugee center and a National Police Academy. It currently houses a gymnasium.
