A historic public library, the New Britain Public Library is a true local landmark. The library dates back to the 19th century, and memorable personalities like Mark Twain have been known to hold lectures there. The current building it is housed in was inaugurated in 1901, it was designed by local architect William F. Brooks. The main library has a vast collection of books and mixed media open to the public.
