Besides Jena's many museums, the town is also known for its Seven Wonders. Fuchsturm Jena is among these seven historical places. Perched atop a mountain and soaring at 30 meters (98.42 feet), it is the most recognizable landmark of this university city. It was a part of the medieval Burg Kirchber. Only the keep now survives after the castle was destroyed. Local myths and legends add a mystical aura to this tower. It is managed by the Fuchsturm-Gesellschaft. There are picnic areas around the tower. Today, it houses a lovely inn where you can stay as well as relish regional dishes.
