The Sanibel Community House was first established in 1927 as a meeting place for the island's residents and visitors, and has since played an important role in the development of island's cultural and historic heritage. Visitors are welcomed to stop by and take a tour of this historic meeting place. The community house is owned and managed by the Sanibel Community Association as a non-profit event venue. The association organizes a variety of cultural and social events throughout at the Community House throughout the year including carnivals, fairs, live performances, dance parties, community dinners, fundraisers and antique shows, alongside the renowned annual Sanibel Shell Fair & Show. The Community House also hosts a variety of clubs and activities including art, yoga, zumba and duplicate bridge classes. The facility includes a ball room, meeting rooms and a kitchen, making it an ideal choice for private events as well.
