With its 14th-century origins, the imposing Schloss Eyrichshof remains one of the most prominent historical structures in the time-worn town of Ebern. Built by the noble clans from the bygone era, it is still under the ownership of the members of the royal families of Germany. Though the castle building incorporates a number of architectural styles, the magnificent Renaissance door remains a key feature, popular for its intricate carvings. During the castle festivals, the sprawling courtyard is thrown open to the public. Some of its ornate rooms can be rented for private events like weddings and anniversaries. The castle's premises also play host to several cultural events like operas, plays and concerts.
