Situated in the ruins of an abbey in Monasterboice, Muiredach's High Cross is believed to date back to as early as 9th Century. Popularly known as the South Cross by the locals, Muiredach's High Cross is said to be a beautiful Celtic stone art form. Muiredach's High Cross is considered to be one of the most magnificent sculptures and is listed as an heritage site by UNESCO. This cross measures 5.5 meters (18.05 feet) and has seven panels representing different stories from Christianity.
