Pier 70 San Francisco is one of historic regions of the city. This area was majorly an industrial area during the early 1900s. During the World War II era, this region was a place of work for over 18000 people and has been considered as one of the largest industrial estates in the city. Prominently used for ship-building and similar purposes, the area was downzoned in 1972. Now, although the several buildings in this region are left to rust, Pier 70 San Francisco has been popularly used for community events and festivals. Now, this region is being worked on for redesigning and development for private as well as commercial dwellings.
