Port Vauban is a historic harbor, which has been used since the times of the ancient Romans when it was a natural harbor. It was fortified later by the Seigneur de Vauban, Sébastien Le Prestre who went on to become the military engineer for Louis XIV. During the early 1900s , the port was used as a landing platform for seaplanes. It is now used as a marina where yachts and boats are moored. These days, the port is a popular tourist attraction and landmark. Water skiing as well as boat and yacht tours are popular water activities that people indulge in. The harbour is also the venue for the Antibes Yacht Show which attracts thousands of tourists every year.
