St. James is the parish church of Yarmouth located on the Isle of Wight. Dating back to the medieval times, the church was reconstructed during the mid 17th century. Works of rebuilding began in 1635 with the church hosting a statue of the 17th century admiral Sir Robert Holmes. He had supposedly found an unfinished monument of Louis XIV of France, and had forced the sculptor to carve his head on the statue. The church is a small building, however flanked with a considerably tall tower. Beautiful brickwork, St James’ Church is a building of religion which speaks volumes about its history.
