The Old Windmill is a part of Wickham Park in Central Brisbane. The heritage site was built in 1828 by the convicts, making it not only among the oldest structures in Brisbane but also the oldest windmill in Australia! Initially used to grind grains, the structure was where many interesting incidents occurred. In 1862, it housed Queensland Museum and in 1934, it functioned as a signal tower, where the very first TV signals (in Australia) were transmitted. Now, however The Old Windmill functions as a weather observatory. One of the most interesting sites in the city, The Old Windmill warrants a visit.
