Blessed with fertile land and an adequate water supply, Glendale was first initiated as a farming colony in 1892. It subsequently was incorporated as a municipality by the city of Phoenix in 1910. Also known as Arizona's Antique Capital, it has tons of shops along Glendale Avenue and around the quaint Catlin Court neighborhood. Some of the other attractions include the University of Phoenix Stadium where the NFL's Arizona Cardinals play and it's also home to the Phoenix Coyotes NHL hockey team, who play at the Gila River Arena.
