5001 Grant Avenue, Torresdale, Philadelphia, PA, United States, 19114
Glen Foerd On The Delaware, is the only waterfront estate left in the city that opens its gates to the public. This mansion that overlooks the River Delaware was built by Charles Macalester, but was later purchased by Robert H. Foerderer. The expansive grounds are adorned with beautiful trees, colorful flowers and different varieties of plants. The water features like lily pond and other structures further add to its beauty; visitors can tour the grounds free of charge and they are open to the general public throughout the year. Its main mansion is as lavish as its grounds; antiques, artifacts, furnishings speaks volumes about the rich tastes of its occupants. Tourists can tour the mansion on Wednesdays and Saturdays only; prior booking is required. Apart from that, Glen Foerd also hosts cultural and social events. This grandiose venue can also be hired for weddings and other private events. For details, call ahead.
