West Spain Street, Sonoma, CA, United States, 95476
Located at Sonoma State Historic Park, Lachryma Montis was constructed by General Mariano Guadalupe Vallejo in the period between 1851 and 1852. The estate's name, which is Latin for 'mountain tear', was derived from its proximity to a spring the locals called 'Chiucuyem', or 'crying mountain'. Today, the estate has been preserved in order to give visitors a glimpse into General Vallejo's life and times.
