The Lincoln Home National Historic Site is the celebrated home of Abraham Lincoln, who lived here in the crucial years spanning 1844 to 1861, prior to becoming the 16th President of the United States. The house was actually the only home that Abraham and Mary Todd Lincoln ever owned. Their son, Robert Todd Lincoln, donated the house in 1887, and has been well preserved and maintained ever since. Unlike most homes of other presidents, the Lincoln Home is inclined towards simplicity.
