This museum recounts the glorious past of Gloucester's Cape Ann region. The Cape Ann Museum was originally established in the 1870s as the headquarters of the science and literature association, but presently the museum exhibits artifacts and art works. The most popular collection on display are the works by Fitz Henry Lane, a fine art painter who was born and brought up in Cape Ann. Contemporary art works and rotating exhibits are also housed here. Two historic homes can also be visited. Check the website for upcoming events and other information.
