Cape Fear Botanical Garden is spread over an area of 77 acres (31 hectares). It is fully-administered by a non-profit organization. The garden is open to public all days of the week and charges a minimum fee for admission. Opened in 1989 as part of a college extension project program, it is a must visit when in town. It helps to conserve and protect countless species of herbs and plants, some of which endangered as well. The garden is also visited by many rare insects and butterflies which are found nowhere else in the world.
