Although the construction of Schloß Fachsenfeld began in 1827, it was expanded and altered over the next few decades and then again during the early years of the 20th Century. Sprawled before this architectural beauty lies a magnificent landscaped garden. Interspersed between babbling brooks and tranquil ponds lie exotic plants and trees that have come to be home to a plethora of animals, birds and butterflies. The castle and park have both been lovingly preserved, and now serve as the venue for a colorful cultural program featuring concerts, theater, banquets and celebrations. Some of the castle's rooms feature original furnishings and have been preserved as a kind of museum. Guided tours of the castle and park are offered over the weekend and by appointment as well. The premises are also available on hire for private events and conferences. The seasonal castle cafe is a fine place to enjoy a quick bite as you admire the awe-inspiring view of the English gardens.
