University of Würzburg was established way back in 1402 and was re-established in 1582 by Julius Echter von Mespelbrunn. Part of the Coimbra Group, the university has more than 20,000 students and offers courses in the fields of law, theology, mathematics, biology, economics, astronomy and so on. Laureates like Wilhelm Wien, Hans Spemann, Johannes Stark, Max von Laue, and Karl Landsteiner have worked at the university in the past.
