The beautiful Christuskirche was built in 1889- 1891 under the supervision of renowned German architect- Ludwig Diemer. It was inaugurated on May 31, 1891. Today, the church serves as an important religious center for the Protestant community of the city. A dominant feature of the church is its slender tower that can seen from a distance. Exquisite interiors display a strong Italian-Renaissance styling. Of special significance is the Christ Statue of Julius Seitz. There is also a three-manual organ built by Reiger in 1980. It has a capacity to accommodate over 1,080 worshipers. The church also has a community center where numerous cultural events, lectures and programs take place.
