Housed inside more than a century-old structure on Court Square, The Dixie is a premier performing arts center in Huntingdon. Named after the famous actress, Dixie Carter, who was a native of Tennessee, this vibrant space is equipped with a state-of-the-art theater known as the Hal Holbrook Theatre. It has a seating capacity for 471 spectators and is equipped with advanced sound and light technology that enhances the experience of watching world-class performances. Apart from the theater, the performing arts center comprises three dressing rooms and one green (rehearsal) room with an access to the stage. Not only does the center hosts performances by professional artists and groups, it is also used as a venue for school and community events. Events of Carroll Arts Council, Huntingdon Special School District and Carroll Academy, are held here regularly.
