The Mourne Mountains are a stunning granite range, encompassing nearly 9000 acres. A unique feature of the mountains is the Mourne Wall, a 35 kilometer long dry wall that is also the guiding point for one of the Mournes' most challenging hikes. The biggest peak is Slieve Donard, which stands 2790 feet above sea level. The stunning, stark landscape and views down to the ocean ensure an incredible day's hike - just be sure that you are prepared for the quicksilver weather changes that can occur on the Mournes, as the mountains themselves are almost entirely exposed.
