Managed by the Zwolse Theaters, Schouwburg Odeon is a bustling performing arts venue in Zwolle. The historic theater traces its origins to the 19th Century, when Zwolle's cultural scene consisted of nothing more than a couple of musical concerts randomly held in a local concert hall. The sprawling Schouwburg Odeon was probably built in the year 1838. Originally administered by the city council, it came under private ownership in the year 1998. Noted architect Greiner Van Goor was brought on board to redesign the theater building. The new structure boasted of well-laid out stages for ballets, operas and other classical renditions. It also hosts theatrical and cabaret acts to an enthusiastic audience. Additionally, the ornately furnished hall can also be rented out for meetings, wedding receptions and other private gatherings.
