Founded in the Harlem district in the year 1968, the National Black Theatre is one of the most successful theaters to showcase theater by the African American community. Since its inception, the organization has produced around 300 original plays and has won the AUDELCO Black Theater Excellence Award more than 45 times. Aside from this, the theater is also known to host theater courses, workshops and community events.
