Metro Chicago has been a mainstay for music lovers ever since its inception in 1982. The brainchild of Joe Shanahan, a well-known music promoter, it was the platform for bands like Alkaline Trio, Fall Out Boy, R.E.M. and The Smashing Pumpkins. Besides these, it has hosted a plethora of artists from various genres and it continues to be a hot-spot for local musicians to perform as well. The acoustics in what was the former Northside Auditorium Building are just as fantastic as when it was constructed in 1927. Underneath the building in the basement, visit the Smart Bar for a drink before the show. One drawback is that the drink prices are high and the bar is cash only, but there is an ATM on-site.
