Wazirpura Road, Agra, India, 282003
Architecturally dwarfed by the neighboring Cathedral of Immaculate Conception, Akbar's Church has a history to back up its existence. One of the oldest churches in the city, it was ordered to be built by Mughal Emperor Akbar in 1599. The actual reason for the construction of the church is unclear, however, it is often believed that it was built as a place of worship for one of his wives and himself. Destroyed and rebuilt several times, Akbar's Church is open on all days for worship and sees a large number of people turn up for prayers on Sunday.
