One of the premier spaces for performing arts in the area, the Niswonger Performing Arts Center was built to create a venue which would be available for the enjoyment of the whole community. The seeds of such a venue in Greeneville was born out of the need for major renovation of the Geeneville High School in 1999. The venue originally was going to be an auditorium in the school that would seat about 800 guests; but the intervention of local businessmen like Scott Niswonger led to the creation, instead, of a much bigger venue that would make Greeneville a prominent destination for music or theater. The Niswonger Performing Arts Center was financed through private and public funding, and is today buzzing with events like concerts, dance shows, plays, musicals and much more.
