Burgerweeshuis is a popular concert venue in Deventer. Located within a historic building that was earlier a convent, the venue functioned as a civic center in the 1980s and was then converted into a concert venue. It is known for hosting live performances by local and international artists alike. Past performers here include Calexico, Soundgarden, Room Eleven and Within Temptation among many others. The in-house nightclub is quite popular among locals; popular DJs like Don Diablo and Grandmaster Flash have played here. Besides this, they also offer cultural education where several workshops and classes are conducted and fresh talents are promoted and encouraged. Burgerpop music festival and The Science Café Deventer are held here annually.
