The sprawling 1400 acres (570 hectares) of the Shelburne Farms in Vermont is a non-profit farm that encourages environmental, economical and cultural sustainability through the practice of rural land use. It also doubles up as a learning center that educates youth about a sustainable future. It was registered as a historic landmark in the National Register of Historic Places. Besides being an education center, the farms also comprises of a dairy that breeds a herd of Brown Swiss cows. Shelburne Farms also makes available pasture-raised lamb, beef, veal, eggs and maple syrup.
