The story of the Kessler Theater began in the 1940s, when it was opened as a cinema hall. However, by the next decade, the theater had closed, and the following decades saw the building change many hands, till in the late 1990s, it lay vacant and neglected. Since the early years of the 21st Century, there were efforts to revive the theater and convert it into a multi-purpose venue, with a focus on cultural events. After several years of planning and construction, the Kessler Theater opened in 2010. This venue is an epicenter of cultural life in the city, and hosts a passel of events, like live concerts, art exhibitions, photography exhibitions and more. See the website to know more.
