The Javits Center was designed by architect I.M. Pei and built in the 1980s. It is a massive steel and glass structure covering five city blocks between the 34th and 39th streets, and somewhat removed from the subway system and the heart of the city. It primarily showcases trade shows such as the New York International Boat Show, the New York International Auto Show, Internet World and PC Expo.
