Spanning a dry, arid area of 683,100 acres (76,440 hectares) Desierto de los Monegros is a protected region and home to some of the most enduring species of birds. It is also the venue of what is possibly the largest event in the city, the Monegros Desert Festival. The event is a regular feature here and every year a stage is set up along with a dance floor and other elements to make the festival a huge success.
