Located in the Tippecanoe County, Lafayette was named after the legendary French hero General Lafayette who helped the Americans greatly with his wily strategic warfare. This historic city was platted by William Digby in 1825 and used to be a prominent shipping port because of its location upon the Wabash River. Currently the city's economy revolves around education and industry for the most part. Some attractions that should not be missed are the Purdue University and an old Israeli temple.
