Although the origin of the Château du Plessis-Macé dates back to the middle ages, much of the palace that you see today was built at the beginning of the Renaissance. The process of replacing the ancient stone fortress began in the middle of 15th Century when it was destroyed during the hundred years war. A remarkable Renaissance structure with well-preserved towers and beautiful facade which is decorated with carved arches and balconies, today, the castle is a venue for theatrical Festival of Anjou and other cultural events.
