Regarded as one of Europe's most important museums, The Heraklion Archaeological Museum covers and brings together many archaeological finds. Cretan history and prehistory is covered well along with many antiquities and there are many displays of important Minoan art. The building the museum is situated in is an architectural marvel and has many exhibition spaces, laboratories and a library. Renovated not long ago, the museum also hosts many exhibitions and cultural events and also collaborates with many educational institutions.
