The imposing Nidaros Domkirke is at once, striking, not just for its grand scale, but also its stunningly intricate facade, with life-sized sculptures of Norwegian kings and bishops. Dating back to the 11th Century, the impressive stone edifice is one of the largest of its kind in Northern Europe. The cathedral sits over the grave of the patron Saint Olav, making it one of the holiest sites in Norway.
